I guess they sell the disabled seating once it gets close to the show date, so we had this perfectly able couple come up to us an hour into REMs set to claim their seats. We moved 2 seats over to accomodate them. But who gets to a show that has 2 openers an hour into the headliner's set?

i didn't sneak into the show. i just moved to a seat, smuggled down by an un-named sonicliving user (thanks, daniel!) but ONLY once R.E.M was already on their 3rd song and it was clear that those people weren't showing up. why should the good seats go unused while i slide down the hill? first come/ first serve just makes more sense. democracy!

I sit in my assigned seats because I don't want to have to get up and move 18543675239 times during the show because the real ticket holder showed up. I want to watch the damn show.

I enjoyed the show. we had lawn seats, but were able to upgrade to the Disabled person's seating due to my wife's recently torn ACL.

Assigned seating and the Greek just don't work together.

Yeah. Older people are lame until you're older. And then young people are a nuisance. And I suppose if you've paid $70 to sit in a seat, you want to be able to see. P.S. I had lawn seats. I sneaked in! Haahaha.

So it's somewhat fair to say if the artist has a say, "older" following, then the show will likely be assigned seats. Additionally, if you stand at such a show, you will be inappropriately poked.

i have a bruise on my right shoulder blade from that poking. i had to say, politely, "you know, a nice TAP would have been fine." he's lucky he didn't get a punch.

Paul Simon was assigned seating but most shows are not. It's them trying to guess what the audience will be like. I did see people being told to sit by other audience members and I just had to chuckle. Heaven forbid you stood up and rocked out...at a rock concert.

OK, well, I rescind part of my complaints then. I know that a few shows this summer are assigned, but it looks like Death Cab is GA. I'm having trouble adjusting I guess....I've never been to the Greek in my life with assigned seating. So maybe they're just going to do it more often? I don't know. I guess we'll see. I will cave just one more time for Dolly Parton, and then that's it for me.

Wasn't assigned seating only for the REM shows? This isn't the case for all shows there, is it? And JEEZ Amy, I can't believe you STOOD at ROCK SHOW. Next thing you're going to tell me is that you cheered and "WOO!"'d at the end of every song and then sang along to "Losing my Religion". :-p
